Adult Sewing Class – Oct 1, 8 and 15 from 6:30-8pm.  Cost is $40, limit 6.  This is an open forum style class and you can bring any project you like. I am there to help and guide you through it.  I can even give some suggestions for projects if you are not sure what to try next.  This class is intended for those who know how to operate and thread their machine.

In home studio classes – open forum style

The open forum style of class is where any student, any skill level can come to my studio and work on a project for 2 hours.  The minimum is 2 students and maximum of 3 students.  Cost is $20 per student.  You sign up for a date and let me know what project you want to work on.  I can help and guide you through it.  I am asking that payment be made prior to class time (via paypal, cash or check) because I have had a few cancellations and then already told other students I was full.  No refunds, but transferring to another class is possible if you give me at least 24 hour notice.

Saturday, Aug 31 from 9-11am - one spot left

Monday, Sept 9 from 6-8pm - 3 spots left

Saturday, Oct 5 from 9-11am - 3 spots left

**Register soon because dates do fill up quickly.  I will email a paypal invoice if you choose that method of payment.

Summer's over...bittersweet

So 2 of my 3 go back to school on Wed, Aug 21.  I have to say I am pretty excited about it.  Them - not so much.  They will enjoy seeing their friends again and the bickering between all 3 of them will subside a bit because they won't be on each others nerves as much.

My littlest will start preschool in September.  I have mixed emotions about it.  I know he needs school because he is pretty bored with me.  He often asks "who are my friends?" when the older kids have friends over to the house.  He will begin the journey that is school.  Learning, making new friends and eventually needing me less and less.  Now don't get me wrong, that is a good thing.  I want him to be independent and confident and all those things that you want for your kids.  But part of me wants to freeze him as a 4 year old.  His cuteness.....for now, I am still his "mooshie".  I bet when he is 9 he won't call me his mooshie.  His sweetness..."Mommy, you are pretty".  Now who would tire of hearing that?  His neediness at times..."Please hold me." I do really relish these things right now.  And I know that over time, these things that I cherish now will change and morph into other things that I will love just as much.  But he is my baby.  He is my mooshie.  Our days together are changing.  There will be drop offs and pick ups and time apart.  And that is ok.  Sometimes.  So if anyone sees me weeping at preschool drop off, never mind me.  I am just a momma trying to accept the changes.

Classes and updates

I have had an amazing response to my private classes lately!  You all want to learn various patterns and projects so the idea of an "open forum sewing" class was a perfect solution.  All my June and July dates are full right now, but I will add some for August and September and post soon.

In the meanwhile, here is a looky-loo and the Sew to Speak class schedule:  Click Here

I also have decided to put the daunting task of book writing aside for the moment and concentrate on patterns.  BTW... I had "patterns coming soon..." on my business card for 2.5 years now...or maybe longer.  So it's time to get my act together and make it happen.  My cousin Andie Hanna is partnering with me and somehow this makes it seems more doable for me.  We are brainstorming a name for our joint venture...I am so bad at this part.  Time to get the thinking cap on!

Also another side note - I have made 4 Staple Dresses!  3 of them are tunic tops and one is a real dress.  I really like this pattern!  April did a super job on it.  I made a few tweaks to each one I made to try some new things out, but all-in-all, her pattern is best when left alone and directions followed.  You can tell she put a lot of time and effort in perfecting it.  I think I like knit fabric best for this pattern.  Super comfy.

Also in other news.... Summer classes!

Tomorrow - June 1 is open registration at Whetstone Community Center.  I am doing 2 kids camps this summer.

Kids Sewing Camp #1 – June 10, 11, 12 and 13 from 10am to 11:30am

Kids Sewing Camp #2 – Aug 5, 6, 7 and 8 from 10am to 11:30am

Cost is $40, ages 8+, limit 5.  In these classes you will learn the basics of the machine sewing.  We will make several projects that the kids will get to choose.  Some of the projects offered are drawstring bags, headbands, PJ pants, wallets, totes and an animal softie.  Supplies can be provided for some of the smaller projects, but for larger projects you may want to supply the fabric of your choice.   The kids can make as many of the projects as time permits.  Nice to bring:  cotton thread and scissors.

Have a wonderful summer and keep creating!!

Hugs,
Michelle

Happy Anniversary Sew to Speak

5 years!!  Wow...time flies.  And I have been teaching for about 4 1/2 of those 5 years.  So come visit and wish Sew to Speak a happy anniversary this Saturday, March 9.  Here are a few things I made as samples for the party.
Some new placemats and napkins...a white and linen palette.

A nice new kid's apron.  I had some old lace/doilies so I cut them up and added as trim.
Kinda cute, I think.
