drawstring bag

So I got a ton of these cute little squares from Quilt Market and I have to do something with them.

 

So I am going to make a little drawstring bag.  I have someone in mind that I want to say thank you too and this would be a cute gift. 

 

I started by sewing a chain of squares together.   

 

Then I pressed them down and sewed a 2 rows of them together. 

 

Then pressed the backs.

These squares are just a punch of fun in the drawstring bag.  I have no patience for piecing much more than this!  :)

 

Add your additional fabric:

 

Make a liner

Make a channel for the drawstring

 

Sew together

 

Sew shut the opening used for turning

 

press and add your cording or ribbon with a safety pin through the channels

 

Pretty cute, huh?

Memory making

One of the reasons I began making baby items was that I received so many lovely baby items when my son was born that I wanted to give these types of gifts to others.  Handmade gifts are just so nice to give and receive.  They are made with love!  Corny, I know...

So I have made all my kids blankets, clothing, softies, toys, etc... I hope they cherish them years from now. 

I wanted to share one of my baby blankets...let's just say it qualifies as vintage now.  It is so beautiful and my mom can't seem to remember who made it for me.  But the detail is AMAZING.  It makes me want to try some needleturn applique and embroidery.  I just love it.

Baby gifts... what would you buy?

I put a pool up on my blog to get a sense of what people want to give when a new baby arrives. Since I make an assortment of items, I wanted to see what might be a "best seller". There are blankets, bibs, burp cloths, hooded towels, clothing.... just to name a few. So if you want to contribute your 2 cents... please vote!
